Acetyl L-Carnitine is the acetyl ester of L-Carnitine, and is a source of both L-Carnitine and an acetyl group. Acetyl LCarnitine is an amino acid (building block for proteins) that is naturally produced in the body and can help the body produce energy. It's used as a supplement for lots of purposes including Alzheimer's, late life depression, thinking problems related to Lyme disease, and for nerve problems such as neuropathy due to diabetes or pain due to certain drugs. I ordered it for a family member at the suggestion of the doctor for neuropathy due to the after effects of chemotherapy. So far it hasn't helped, but this is a difficult thing to treat and sometimes just takes time. At any rate, we're trying a second bottle.
I've ordered vitamins and supplements from TwinLabs in the past and have been happy with their products. It's sometimes difficult to tell if a supplement is really working or if a condition just improves on it's own or if the improvement is just a placebo effect (You expect it to work and it's actually your positive thinking that makes it seem so.) But there's one vitamin, Niacin, that produces a harmless flushing effect if you don't get the buffered version, and I could tell by the flushing that the TwinLabs product was being absorbed better than some other brands I had tried. So I've continued to buy their products because as far as I can tell they usually seem to work.

I have not yet gotten to requesting a replacement, but this product arrived, the box in good shape, but the bubble wrapped jar of pills was shattered.The cap to the jar is literally wedged down inside the cracked jar, almost such that it is hard to believe this happened by accident.
Vendor, I think you have a disgruntled employee.
No way will I take this product or pay for it, but let's hope Amazon is honorable and sends me a replacement. The pills are mized in with glass fragments and have a residue on some of them.
Before I bought the product I read another review with the same complaint,and he said it happened 3 times. I thought it was either a fluke or just a guy with a grude against the company, but no, I assure you, I am a real customer and this thing arrived shattered.
This suggests they have definate problems, and yet after the original bad review I would have expected this problem to be fixed by now.
I will update my comment when this is resolved, but am angry that I now have to waste my time setting things in motion.

I have used Carnitine for several years both in training for bodybuilding and triathlons and found that it provides me with endurance type energy without feeling wired. I can just keep going and going and really enjoy my workouts. It is energy from the cellular level within the body and not a glycemic spike. I found that my energy level was consistant throughout my workouts and was there if I needed it.

Thia is my brand of choice for A-L Carnitine. I have used this for years for a chronic health condition. Recently I tried another cheaper brand- and after a few weeks noticed I was not feeling as well as with Twin Labs- the potency was much better with Twin Labs. No shipping problems with broken bottles, and Amazon offers a great bargain price. Thanks Amazon!

3 times in a row I ordered this andeach time the glass bottles were shattered. I contacted Amazon customer service and they made good on the order (replaced twice then refunded the last time). I could not get them to package the glass containers adequately and they were not concerned that I had to order the item from someone else.
ps- the last two orders contained two GLASS bottles with NO PACKING MATERIAL AT ALL IN THE CARTON! Of course it was going to break.
